Unlike a physician, God does not wait for us to either realize or accept that we are not healthy. He does not wait until we go into His consulting room, until we seek His attention. He knows that we have a tendency to deny the fact that we do need Him so He attends to us anyway. He operates (on us) in us and He tends to us …and nurtures us.
In fact, just when we think we are well and fine, does God works on us!
We only look back later (if we care to ever look back at all) and realize that all along we were in a spiritual ICU.
As we are wheeled out into the recovery room, we look around and then get a shock of our lives as we see that we almost lost it, we had lost it. We say “where am I?”……and yet He still picks up the bill and nurses us back to life.

Now is THAT not love and mercy? Is He not a dutiful servant? And is He rewarded for all this?
Unlike a physician, He never discharges us from the ward….our souls get His undivided attention in our private rooms. Unlike a physician, He takes full responsibility, always……for eternity!
Unlike a physician, He is not guided by referrals or waiting lists – He is on duty all the time.
Why does He do all this? In Psalm 142:4, David says:
God knows our hearts. He knows our endless struggles and weaknesses. He knows what we have been going through. He knows our fears, our doubts, our insecurities.
He knows all our frustrations, all our problems, all the temptations we are battling with. He knows all our hopes and desires. He knows the complete picture of our dreams and aspirations. He understands the plans and goals ahead of us. He knows everything about us. He knows that all is done in a positive spirit. Even though we say:
Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life.
