Humbly and Quietly Searching – Day 1

Atma’s collection
In search of a full de-stress and detox experience, I arrive at Little Samadhi not knowing that there’s nothing little about this place.  Actually, in order to realize that Little Samadhi is not just a place, one has to spend a fair amount of time with the graceful yogi, Atma, the life-force of this curative sanctuary.

On the first morning of my retreat, Atma introduced me to breathing – yes, you might think that breathing is a simple exercise of absentmindedly inhaling and exhaling but no, wait until Lady A takes you through some of the basics of breathing and you’ll begin to appreciate oxygen and its impact to the body (and mind).

Straight after the breathing session, Atma and I have fresh fruit salad, scrambled eggs, avocado and organic pumpernickel bread with Earl Grey tea, before heading off to the majestic Tradouw Pass to fetch some spring water – yes, from a real spring. What a scenic drive!

On our way back, we stop at Inkaroo – a jewellery shop owned by the talented Heather Arter. One just has to see the jewellery she makes. …

For lunch, we had a light salad, steamed combination of celery, ginger and carrots.

The day ends on a conversational note – on and off the mat!
