Google understands exactly what I mean and gives back exactly what I want

To me Google is the world’s number 1 brand. But I am willing to go with popular belief….in case someone takes a bite off my head!
I mean, I just wonder how and why Apple is considered to be the world’s leading brand beating the likes of Microsoft, and IBM.
Of course I don’t dismiss Apple’s commitment to its vision of usability and performance (and elegance).  But, does not Google has a bigger market share when it comes to presence and understanding – not to mention its commendable “responsibility function” and its irreplaceable role it plays in the modern world?  I mean, don’t we all utilize Google to find the very information that states that Google is the world number 2 brand? Very ironic!
Aren’t more and more people interacting with Google as a brand through various social IT tools such Dell, Blackberry, IBM, Microsoft, etc to access services and products (including Apple products) and therefore making it more popular, accessible and widely used?
Compared to Google, I would rather not mention the fact that Apple remains a luxury brand, it has a notable price tag attached to it, it targets a corporate environment – all of which are not targeted at winning the average consumer’s Attention, Interest, Desire and Action (AIDA principle).
Admittedly so, the issues of brand metrics and equity are ongoing.
So, yes, monetary speaking Apple makes more money than most brands. Why can’t we use plain English? It is wealthier. But does that give it a right to claim victory over consistently focused and unassuming brands such as Google?
Even if we went blindly with Engager’s suggestion that Top brands should meet the following criteria: brand affinity, strong brand advocacy and brand knowledge and understanding – to me brand reach is still the make or break when it comes to celebrating conquest – and Google should fly the flag!
Perhaps it is about time we revisit our approach on brand metrics, or should profit margins continue to be the litmus test? Well, due to a lack of better articulation, it seems all I say is perhaps Google is the world’s number 1 brand social partner of choice!
